01: Getting Started-- Download and install drupal 8
You are here
TL;DR -- Install drupal commerce 8 with drush, not through your site UI.
My initial plan was to set this commerce site up in Pantheon. If you don't know already, Pantheon is an excellent platform for setting up, hosting and managing Wordpress and Drupal websites. (no affiliate links here!) They're excellent, you should totally take them for a test drive, dev sites are free.
Ok, back to our topic, I spun up a drupal 8 website in Pantheon, and that worked beautifully. However, when installed Commerce 8 and it's accompanying modules, I had an error about some libraries needed to continue.
Commerce Price requires the commerceguys/intl library. pantheon
A few Google searches later, I found out that the libraries are only added with composer, meaning that I need to install drupal 8 Commerce with drush and not through the UI. Here's a Link to the stackexchange issue I decided to spin up the site in my local environment since I had not yet set up my SSH access in pantheon.
SO, I got into terminal, navigated to my sites folder and ran
- drush dl drupal
- // Which incidentally now downloads Drupal 8 by default!
- mv drupal-8.0.2 sahara-d8
- // Changes the default drupal 8 folder name to your site name. My site name here is sahara-d8
- cd sahara-8
